Portugal is in the top 10 globally for clean energy generation and also in the top 10 for solar generation. By 2030, photovoltaic solar energy is expected to support 80% of the increase in renewable generation capacity. On October 8, the International Energy Agency (IEA) highlighted Portugal in the Renewables 2025 report as having one of the largest shares of renewable energy in electricity generation worldwide. According to the same report, photovoltaic solar energy should contribute to generating “at least one-third” of Portugal’s electricity by 2030.

The Intermarché in Torres Novas was inaugurated on May 29, 2025, and is one of the largest Intermarché stores of the Os Mosqueteiros Group in Portugal. The Os Mosqueteiros Group is one of the largest in global distribution and is currently present in four European countries.
 
Focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency, this Intermarché carried out a photovoltaic project with Wenergia, in a partnership that includes 1248 photovoltaic modules allowing for a reduction of CO2 emissions by 523.3 tons per year.An investment towards decarbonization based on a relationship of trust, rigor, and transparency with our customer.

The Intermarché da Covilhã was one of the first self-consumption facilities and boasts 154 kWp, with seven PIKO 20 inverters from KOSTAL and 616 250 Wp polycrystalline panels from ATERSA, thus benefiting from savings on the electricity bill.

The facility will produce 237,978 kWh/year and achieve a 40% savings in daytime consumption, according to the project manager from the company Wenergia. This project, fully financed by the developer, has an IRR of 19.5%.
